The Salvation - Teaser

Read more For this teaser for an upcoming TV show called The Salvation among many things I created the debris and explosion trails/fingers in Houdini. ___ The Salvation (working title), an eight-part drama thriller series, showcases exciting new working relationship between the writer Justin Lockey and director Mischa Rozema. With the concept completed and scripts written, this teaser was the last piece of the development puzzle. On the surface, David Miller, a PTSD ridden Iraq war veteran is trying to come to terms with his present. Deeply scarred by his experiences in Iraq he tries to hold on to every scrap of his humanity. As his world unravels from within, he is shepherded into the past by a fringe network of black project government ghosts and captains of industry. In order to keep his own present intact, he has to look inward to amend the past at the behest of his saviours. adidas X Speedflow Experience

Read more For this large Adidas project I had the chance to lead the charge on the development of the speed trail effect coming from our matchmoved host character in Houdini and Nuke ___ For the launch of the adidas X Speedflow, director Erwin van den IJssel worked with The Marketing Store and adidas football to create this live event film. This is compilation of that film, but for the full ten minute version head to the official upload: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gFtRg8TFlEQ The film brought together some of the biggest players in the world including Mohamed Salah, Serge Gnabry, Vivianne Miedema, Karim Benzema, Lindsey Horan, Son Heung-min, Scott McTominay, João Félix, Andreia Faria and of course the one and only Leo Messi!  Maintaining dynamism and energy throughout the ten minutes was vital to engage the audience, so Van den IJssel drew on a variety of styles and techniques. They ranged from a full CG rendered laboratory environment, to digital collage, cel animation and a 3D product tech section. A virtual host was then used to help the audience navigate through the world of Speedfulness. The host was first captured in live action and then created using match moving and 3D simulation. SUNDAYS

Read more Set in Mexico City sometime in the future and starring US actor Brian Petsos and Mexican actress Sofia Sisniega, SUNDAYS is an ambitious philosophical science-fiction proof-of-concept short. I had the pleasure to work on many shots, mainly the FX heavy ones. ___ Mischa Rozema and The Panics Film debut film project SUNDAYS completes a first step towards its Feature Film goal with the release of this ambitious proof-of-concept short. Much-anticipated and widely-supported by the international creative community (over 50K US Dollars was donated on Kickstarter alone for the live action filming part in Mexico City), SUNDAYS is directed by Mischa Rozema. Set in Mexico City sometime in the future and starring US actor Brian Petsos and Mexican actress Sofia Sisniega, SUNDAYS is an ambitious philosophical science-fiction proof-of-concept short. The end of the world seems like a nightmare to Ben. A memory of a past life that doesn’t belong to him. When Ben starts to remember Isabelle, the only love he’s ever known, he realises she’s missing in his life. An existential descent into confusion and the desperate need to find out the truth begins. This reality depicts a stunning, surprising and dark world. TNT - The People Network - directors cut

Read more For this ambitious TNT commercial I did quite a few allround Generalist and compositing tasks. ___ Amsterdam agency Etcetera turned to The Panics director Mischa Rozema to take on the challenge of their hugely ambitious Human Network script. Central to the integrated global campaign for TNT, is a stunning 50 second television spot highlighting the delivery giant's far-reaching network of dedicated couriers. With an accompanying tvc cutdown of 30 seconds, personalised video for TNT's existing clientbase and several key print visuals, The Panics took on producing the main bulk of the integrated campaign followed by localising to 32 countries. The hugely ambitious script appealed to director Rozema's taste for taking on the epic, "There was just no way to turn a script like that down," says Rozema "Even though it had ‘IMPOSSIBLE’ written all over it. The complexity, the size, the craziness. Maybe that’s what really pulled me in to this. I just loved stepping into the unknown and finding out how we could make this work." For Rozema, the biggest challenge was how to avoid the vfx becoming the focus of the tvc. "The Panics is set up differently then most production companies because we have our own in-house post production team which works instinctively with the directors. The temptation would have been to apply all that specialised knowledge and make this into a vfx fest but actually we threw out a lot of vfx when we started the project. We stepped into this trying to create as much ‘in camera’ as we could." This meant the production company had to set up major shoots in 5 locations across Europe ranging from live action drone-powered aerial mountain road scenes to complicated motion-capture acrobatic performances. Rozema, "We decided to really push what could be achieved in camera by actually creating a full size human truck on the set. It worked by having a huge, truck-sized, metal rig that could be pulled by an actual truck. We then filled it with an incredible Czech stunt team (famous for big Hollywood blockbusters) that had been rehearsing for weeks and gave the whole project a realistic approach. To be honest in the end, we used more VFX in the backgrounds (creating a non-existing airport, alpine road-tunnels and cities) than on the actual vehicles where you’d expect them."
